Who we are
A greener future is something we build together.
Climate action should improve everyday life, unlock opportunities for young people and help communities become more resilient.
Our movement, our responsibility
Youth Climate Movement South Africa brings young people together with residents, schools, community organisations and partners. We champion locally led climate solutions that are practical, inclusive and rooted in the realities of South African communities.
✊
Our purpose
Mobilise youth and communities around climate action, green innovation, food security and opportunity.
🌱
Our values
Community, inclusion, integrity, collaboration, creativity and care for our planet.
What we do
Turn good intentions
into real action.
Our focus connects climate awareness with activities that communities can see, join and sustain.
Community food gardens
Support shared gardens, food-growing skills and local food resilience through practical, community-led work.
Greener neighbourhoods
Encourage clean-up drives, responsible waste practices, tree care and healthier public spaces.
Climate education
Make climate knowledge accessible through youth conversations, school engagement and community learning.
Green skills & ideas
Help young people explore practical solutions, environmental entrepreneurship and future-facing skills.
Climate resilience
Promote water-wise living, local preparedness and awareness of climate-related community risks.
Partnerships for impact
Bring together volunteers, schools, community sites, organisations and responsible supporters.
A shared starting point
Plant the seed.
Grow the change.
Community-led climate action starts with people, a place and a plan. YCMSA aims to help local teams shape projects around their needs — from a shared garden to a cleaner, greener street.
